Is it a coat, is it a cardigan? It's either or both! Both comfy and classic, this versatile jacket is bound to become one of your go-to wardrobe staples. Make it warm and cozy in flannel or wool during the winter, or light and breezy in linen for spring or fall.
This jacket is based off our popular Essential Shirt pattern and has a similar sleeve construction that is very approachable for advanced beginners. It can be made unlined or lined (though in class we will sew the lining), pockets and a lapel. Due to its roomy nature, this pattern has little to no fitting challenges.

Recommended Fabric: Medium weight woven fabric with good drape, such as textured cotton, chambray, linen, soft denim, cotton/linen blend, twill, wool or flannel.
Please cut out your pattern and fabric pieces before class. We will mail your pattern approximately two weeks before class to give you time to cut out. If you want to collect your pattern in person, just let us know in the notes at check out. We encourage you to contact the shop before class if you need help cutting out your fabric. Size chart and cutting guide attached.

Skills expected:
You have some basic garment sewing experience such as a pullover top or a-line skirt. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You will not be taught to sew in this class so please be sure you already know how to sew!
Materials needed: You will need 2 & 3/4 for main and 2 & 3/4 for the lining. You don't have to line it, but if you choose not to line it, be sure your main fabric is aesthetically nice on the "wrong" side. *I will be instructing the class with a lining.
Materials provided: The Coatigan pattern, a sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.
