Accomodation

Join us for a 3 night / 4 day sewing getaway to the beautiful mountains in North Georgia for a long weekend COATMAKING sewing retreat, November 2-5!

In this long weekend retreat we'll relax in the beautiful North Georgia scenery, eat great food, and sew a fantastic coat, the Hey June Handmade Narva Coat (size 0-30, up to 58" bust 60" hip)

Your stay includes accommodation at a lovely 4 bedroom / 3 bath air-b-n-b in Rabun Gap, meals each day--breakfast, lunch and dinner--and sewing instruction to make a coat! It also includes one dinner out to Julep Farms and relaxing time at the getaway house and nearby surroundings.

Here's what's included!:

  • Accommodation in individual bedrooms with king beds at a spacious mountain house with an open kitchen and lovely outdoor areas
  • 3 dinners (Thurs, Fri and Sat)
  • One dinner will be at Julep Farms KItchen, which is wonderful and only 10 minutes' drive from the house.
  • 2 lunches (Fri and Sat)
  • 3 breakfasts (Fri, Sat, Sun)
  • Snacks and beverages through the retreat
  • 9 hours (minimum) of guided instruction to make the Navara Coat, which we will sew on Friday and Saturday
  • 4 hours (2 evening sessions) to meet in person ahead of time to cut out at Topstitch (optional with dates TBD once we know who is local) - There will be a cutting out video for anyone who is not local who wants guidance on cutting out or would just prefer to watch the video vs cut out in person
  • The Hey June Handmade Navara sewing pattern (you will need to supply your own fabric and will need to be cut out before our weekend getaway)
  • Sewing machines and sewing tools, thread, supplies etc will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own machine though if you would like to.

The Accommodation:

The house is a brand new, fantastic Air-B-n-B! And it's one that I have been to in person so I know it's amazing. It's located in Rabun Gap in North Georgia, about 2 hours outside of Atlanta in a lovely setting with mountain views. It's near hiking trails, farm stands, wineries and cute small towns and Julep Farm where we will have dinner one night.

Each participant will have their own bedroom with a king bed - the two upstairs bedrooms have a bit more privacy and are farther from the other bedrooms which is why their price is slightly higher. Bathrooms are shared. One bedroom has an en suite bathroom, but the bathrooms will be shared.

Check in will be Thursday, Nov 2 at 4pm and check out at 11am on Sunday.

*The instructors (Kari and Leigh) will be sleeping in the bunk area of the downstairs lounge.

*Transportation is not included. The closest airports are Asheville regional and Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson.

The project / pattern!:

We'll be making Hey June Handmade Narva Coat. From Hey June:

The Narva Coat is a relaxed fit outer layer designed for warm woolen fabric to keep you cozy and cute all winter.  It features welt or inseam pockets to keep your hands toasty, an optional decorative lapel notch, stand collar, full lining, shoulder pads, and full coverage knee length.  The Narva is designed to be worn open, and works equally well over leggings and sneakers for running errands, or over formal wear for a night out.  An optional belt is included to keep the coat bundled tight for colder temperatures, or you can add a button or two if desired as an alternate closure option.

This pattern includes several introductory pages with information on picking the best size, performing girth and length adjustments if necessary, basic alterations, choosing fabric, and helpful sewing notes.

Read all about the Narva Coat, including fabric recommendations, sewalong links, and styling options in the blog post!
