Fall is here, and that means it’s time for cozy handmade layers! Join us to dive into knit sewing while you stitch up your own comfy Primrose Pullover and a pair of sweatpants (choose between the Sloan or Silas patterns). You’ll pick up practical knit-sewing tips along the way—plus go home ready to lounge in style.

The Sloan pattern (drafted for women) is a classic knit sweatpant full of options. It's fitted at the waistband with ease at the hips through the legs and fitted at the ankle. It includes both mid and high rise options. Choose from 2 waistband options: a flat waistband or a classic waistband with an optional drawstring. It also has optional cargo pockets. 

The Silas pattern (drafted for men) is a classic knit sweatpant. It's fitted at the waistband with ease at the hips through the legs and fitted at the ankle. The rise sits at the preferred waist. Choose from 2 waistband options: a flat waistband or classic waistband with optional drawstring. Both waistbands have enclosed 2” knit elastic. Choose from 7” or 11” shorts or sweatpants with a knit cuff, elastic hem, or simply hemmed. Optional cargo pockets.

You'll need to supply your own fabric for this class and you can check the size chart for details on yardage you'll need. Sweatshirt knits, sweatshirt fleece, fleece backed jersey, athletic fleece, cotton lycra French terry, bamboo fleece are all good choices. Skills expectedYou have some beginner garment sewing experience and know how to read a sewing pattern, trace and cut out fabrics. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. 

Materials needed

Fabric. See the size chart for yardage requirements. Drafted for stable knits 20% or more stretch horizontally and a little vertical stretch. You want something with good recovery for the leg cuff (if adding). A variety of knit fabrics can be used for different looks. Sweatshirt knits, sweatshirt fleece, fleece backed jersey, athletic fleece, cotton lycra French terry, etc.

Materials provided: A sewing machine and a serger (your instructor will show you tips for using both) sweatpants sewing pattern, elastic, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.
