There's nothing quite like making your very own pants, but they can be intimidating, especially when it comes to getting the right fit. Have no fear, because in this pants making class, you'll meet with your instructor to talk about your size and choosing the right one before you even cut out your fabric!

In this intermediate class, taught by Aaronica of the Needle and the Belle, we'll make the Daughter Judy Coe Trousers

From the pattern maker:

The Coe is a high waisted trouser with a side seam that wraps to the front giving it a slightly curved leg shape. On-seam pockets at the front and patch pockets at the back with optional self belt. The inseam finishes below the ankle giving you a relaxed look.

Class will be daytimes on Mondays 10am-1pm. (We know days don't work for everyone so we will offer this again evenings / weekends but we do have a lot of people attending days lately!)

The first session will be focused on choosing your size and preparing your pattern to cut your fabrics so that you're able to get a great fit before ever cutting into your materials.  Then, you'll spend the following sessions sewing your pants.

Skills you will learn:
• Techniques to get the right fit
• Pattern modifications based on fitting techniques
• Sewing a self belt
• How to sew a waistband
• How to sew a zip fly front
• How to sew inseam pockets

Skills expected:
This is an intermediate class. Please be sure you have the equivalent amount of experience up to an intermediate level. If you've sewn a few advanced beginner garments, including PJ pants or other beginner pants, you should be good to go.

Materials: You'll need to purchase your own fabrics for this class. You'll need fabric yardage based on your sizing. This pattern was created for most pant weight non-stretch fabrics such as denim, twill, linen, etc. If you need help choosing fabric, let us know.

Check the size chart here. Fabrics that are good for this pattern are: A mid-weight cotton/linen will look relaxed and cool. Or you can choose a mid-to heavyweight for a chic winter pant. Linen, Linen blend, Cotton, light to heavy Wool, Corduroy, light to mid weight Denim are good choices

Materials provided: The Coe trouser pattern, zipper, interfacing, a button, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron. And the self belt buckle for anyone doing it.

We will have snacks and drinks but feel free to pack anything you want.

Max in the class: 6

*You'll receive the pattern at the first class on Monday
