Join us for a pantsmaking long weekend January 9-12! We're calling this one a City Retreat, because you can make a long weekend of it, and we're including a few meals, a goodie bag and a list of things to do nearby. This workshop is perfect for folks who want to come into town for a class and spend a long weekend in Atlanta.

On Jan 9-12, together we'll make True Bias Lander Pants.

From the pattern maker:

The Lander pattern is a pant and short with a high waist and button fly. The design includes front and back patch pockets, belt loops, and a straight fit through the legs. View A is a short with a 4” inseam, View B is an ankle length pant, and View C is a boot length pant that can be worn with a heel. You'll also have the option of doing a zip fly.

Class will be begin on Thursday, Jan 8th at 6-8pm, then continue Friday 10am-1pm, Saturday and Sunday 1-6pm. Aaronica and Leigh will teach this workshop together.

The first evening will be focused on meeting each other, choosing your size and preparing your pattern to cut your fabrics so that you're able to get a great fit before ever cutting into your materials. On Friday we'll cut out our fabrics and prep various pieces and possibly begin sewing. Friday afternoon you can rest or explore and then Friday night we'll go to dinner at a great restaurant in Downtown Decatur, Leon's Full Service. Then Saturday and Sunday you'll sew the Lander Pants and lunch will be included both days. *Accomodation is not included. If you're coming from out of town, I recommend choosing an Air b n b in or near downtown Decatur or Courtyard by Marriot in downtown Decatur.

If you're local you can of course take this workshop as well!

Skills you'll learn:

  • Techniques to get the right fit
  • Pattern modifications based on fitting techniques
  • Sewing patch pockets
  • How to sew a waistband
  • How to sew a zip fly or button fly

Skills expected:
This is an intermediate class. Please be sure you have the equivalent amount of experience up to an intermediate level. If you've sewn a few advanced beginner garments, including PJ pants or other beginner pants, you should be good to go.

Materials: You can either choose to purchase your own fabric or we will have materials to choose from (a few different color options in Robert Kaufman twill). We'll have materials options ready in December. Second Stitch, located inside of Topstitch will have some options as well. You'll need fabric yardage based on your sizing.

Check the size chart here. 0-18 and here for 14 -32

Please let us know in the comments which size range you are in.

Materials provided: The Lander pants pattern pattern, zipper, or buttons, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.
