There's nothing quite like making your very own pants, but they can be intimidating, especially when it comes to getting the right fit. Have no fear, because in this pants making class, you'll meet with your instructor to talk about your size and choosing the right one before you even cut out your fabric! [This is for making men's trousers too-- we're adding a man's dress pant pattern for this class so either men or women, or anyone who wants to make either type of pattern can do that. Once the man's pattern is chosen, I'll add the photo and description here.]

In this intermediate class, taught by Aaronica of the Needle and the Belle, we'll make the Paradise Patterns Protea Pants.

From the pattern maker:

The Protea Pant is a modern trouser with chic front pleats, sweeping pant legs, and a curved waistband. It offers two ways of sewing the waistband. The first way is better for light-to midweight fabrics, and if you like the look of topstitching. The second method is for mid-to heavyweight fabrics, or if you like a clean, more traditional trouser waistband. View A has pleats in front, View B has a flat front. This pattern will teach you some fun techniques including:

- An easy zipper fly
- Your choice of top-stitched or clean-finish waistband
- A special technique to keep the pleats folded
- In-seam pockets

Class will be begin on Tuesday, Jan 21st, 6-8pm PM and continue Saturday and Sunday, Jan 25 & 26 - 1:00-6:00 PM. There might be some homework in between but most of the sewing will be done in class.

The first evening will be focused on choosing your size and preparing your pattern to cut your fabrics so that you're able to get a great fit before ever cutting into your materials. For homework, you'll cut out your fabric based on your size and any fitting modifications to your pattern. Then, you'll spend Saturday and Sunday 1-6pm sewing up a great pair of pants.

Skills you will learn:
• Techniques to get the right fit
• Pattern modifications based on fitting techniques
• Sewing pleats if you choose the pleated version
• How to sew a waistband
• How to sew a zip fly front
• How to sew inseam pockets
