Are you ready to level up your sewing skills from beginner or advanced beginner to intermediate? Amazing! Let's do it together.

If you’ve taken our 6 week learn to sew series OR you have some foundational garment sewing skills already, this intermediate series is for you. Over nine weeks, we’ll build on your beginner / advanced beginner skills to intermediate skills to make a button up shirt and trousers.

We'll begin by learning how to modify sewing patterns—what adjustments to make and how to do them—so your garments fit just right. Next, we'll dive into using a serger, as this will be our primary method for finishing garments throughout the series.

After these foundational lessons, we’ll explore various hemming techniques, seam finishes, and essential skills like sewing a machine-stitched buttonhole and inserting a zipper.

Once we’ve built a strong skill set, we’ll apply everything we've learned to create two complete garments: a button-up shirt and a pair of trousers. For these projects we'll use the Friday Pattern Company Butano Shirt and Paradise Patterns Protea Pants. For a men's pattern we'll use something similar to the Wardrobe by Me Jensen Shirt  and McCalls M7987 for men's trousers .

If you're interested in using different patterns (a different but similar button up or trouser pattern), reach out and we can let you know if we can accommodate your interest in the class.

For this class, you'll buy your own fabrics and we will talk about fabric choices during the first class. You'll have time to order fabrics between the first class and when you will need them.

This series is perfect for advanced beginners who know how to sew, have a beginner understanding of how to read a garment sewing pattern, and have sewn a few beginner garments such as a pullover shirt and easy pj / pull up style pants. By the end of this series you'll elevate your skills to be able to sew intermediate and advanced garments on your own.

Each class is approximately 3 hours, though a few of them might run a bit longer.

Ideally it's best to make sure you can attend every session as make up sessions can be challenging to get scheduled around the regular order of the classes so please try to make sure you can attend each session!
