Learn to Sew CLOTHES - Six Week Series - Advanced Beginner

Ready to move beyond your first garments but not quite ready for our full intermediate series? This six-week advanced beginner series is the perfect “bridge class” between Learn to Sew Clothes (6-Week Beginner Series) and Learn to Sew Clothes (7-Week Intermediate Series).

*For this series the patterns are drafted for a woman. Anyone can make these patterns but note they are drafted for women. We will also add a men's patterns version of this series or offer a series with patterns that are unisex or include men's and women's patterns within the same class.

Over six weekly sessions, you’ll sew two Closet Core Patterns favorites: the Kalle Shirt/Shirtdress (choose your favorite view!) and the Pietra Pants, a high-waisted, flat-front pant with an elastic back for comfort. You’ll practice next-level garment skills—fit and view decisions, clean finishing, and polished details, while making pieces you’ll reach for constantly in your closet!

Skills You’ll Learn

  • Choosing a view/size and making smart adjustments
  • Shirt construction skills: yoke, collar options (standard or band), sleeves + cuffs, and placket techniques (varies by view)
  • Professional pressing + seam finishing for a clean inside and out
  • Pants construction: shaped front panels and pockets, and a comfy waistband with elastic in the back
  • How to repeatable steps and skills so you can confidently do them again at home

Who It’s For

Advanced beginners who have completed our beginner learn to sew clothes series (or have equivalent experience) and feel comfortable using a sewing machine, following a pattern, sewing seams/curves, and pressing as they go—ready to level up with guided support.
