We’re combining three of our favorite classes into one great beginner multi week series!

This 3 part class series will break down the basics how to use a sewing machine and learn to sew three household staples: an apron, a French seam pillowcase, and a zipper throw pillow. Each week will focus on one project, beginning with the apron, French seam pillowcase and then the zipper pillow.

Skills you will learn: 

  • The parts of a sewing machine and how to use it
  • How to sew corners
  • How to sew patch pockets
  • How to insert webbing into a channel
  • How to hem
  • How to sew french seams
  • How to sew an invisible zipper

Skills expected:

None! 

Materials: We make it easy on you! You can purchase a materials kit for this class. You'll have a choice of fabrics for each class. Just choose in-store pickup at checkout, but you'll actually pick out and receive the materials at class. You will have a variety of linen fabrics to choose from. 

If you don't get a supply kit, you will need:

  • 1.5 yards of medium weight woven fabric like medium weight linen, denim or canvas for the apron, 1 yard of medium weight fabric for the throw pillow, 1.5 yds for the French seam pillowcase
  • 3 yards of 1in Cotton Webbing in Natural
  • One 20 X 20 pillow insert
  • One 24 in invisible zipper 

Materials provided: A sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape, an iron and ironing board.
