Do you struggle with finishing your garment or have a "me-made" garment that doesn't quite fit? In this 3 hour class, taught by Brittani of Untitled Thoughts, you will learn various hemming methods and basic alterations to up your sewing game! We will focus on basic alterations such as taking in/ letting out side seams, pulling up shoulders, and adding in darts for a more fitted silhouette. Please be sure to bring in a couple garments that have simple to moderate level fit issues.

*Please note, the goal of the class is to demonstrate and practice alteration techniques and not to complete/finish a garment.

Skills you will learn:

  • How to diagnose a fit issue
  • How to properly mark a garment for alterations while it is on yourself
  • Taking in/ letting out seams
  • Altering shoulders (of sleeveless garments only)
  • Adding in/ adjusting darts for a better fit
  • How to hem / alter your garment for hemming


Skills Expected:
Beginner sewing skills if you've made a few beginner garments or other simple projects, you're good to go.

Materials needed: Bring a couple garments that have hem or fit issues. During that session, your instructor will help you determine the best garment for use in class.

Materials provided: Fabric scraps, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.
