Give Back(stitch) – Community Sewing Event!
Sew together. Give together.
Join us for Give Back(stitch), a special free community sewing event where we’ll come together to create something meaningful for someone who could use a little extra care.
Our first project will be a baby quilt for Tiana, a baby girl due in early November. The finished quilt will be gifted to her mother, who is currently experiencing homelessness. We are grateful to Ashley at TLC Yoga for connecting us with this family.
No quilting experience is necessary! We’ll begin with a beginner-friendly sewing session to introduce the basics, then work together to create simple quilt blocks that will eventually come together into one beautiful quilt. Everyone will work within the same color palette, and each participant will have the opportunity to make a block of their own.
We’ll explore simple quilt designs like checkerboard blocks, half-square triangles, and log cabin blocks, with instruction and support throughout.
What You'll Learn:
Sewing machine basics and foundational sewing skills
How to make simple quilt blocks
How to work with a shared color palette
Basic piecing and pressing techniques
How individual blocks come together to create a larger quilt

Event Breakdown
We’ll begin with a short introduction to the project, the recipient, and the quilt plan.
Then we’ll review sewing machine basics, choose simple quilt block designs, and work together within a shared color palette to create individual blocks for the quilt.
By the end of the event, each participant will have contributed a piece to a larger community-made quilt that will be finished and gifted with care.
Come learn something new, share your skills, meet other makers, and help us make a quilt to give.
